Cross Connection Church "Ministry of the Month"
Each month, Cross Connection Church will recognize a local, national or international ministry that is furthering the message of the gospel of Jesus Christ through their unique efforts.
We encourage you to prayerfully consider how you can help these ministries, either through volunteering your time or providing financial assistance, if possible. |

International Mission Board
The International Mission Board (formerly Foreign Mission Board) is an entity of the Southern Baptist Convention, the nation's largest evangelical denomination, claiming more than 40,000 churches with nearly 16 million members.
The board's main objective is presenting the Gospel of Jesus Christ in order to lead individuals to saving faith in Him and result in church-planting movements among all the peoples of the world.
About 1.6 billion people still live with little or no access to the Gospel.
Employees and volunteers of the International Mission Board travel around the world to care for others and present the Gospel to them.
Nursing the sick in Africa, teaching music in Russia, Building schools in South America, or art projects in Asia, these are just a few of the missionary projects that the IMB sponsors.
If you would like to help go to www.imb.org to see how you can. You can learn how and where you can serve or you can learn what else you can do to help like donate money to the Lottie Moon Christmas fund, the Cooperative Program or other ministries. The IMB website also photos and videos, information on the countries that need help and how people are working in those countries, stories of people who are in need of prayer, and testimonials of those who have volunteered and those who have been served.
Here is a testimonial from Ava Swiger who worked as a nurse in Niger.
Encountering a 68-year-old white woman in West Africa is hardly what anyone would expect. But then Ava Swiger is no ordinary retiree.
After more than 30 years in nursing, Swiger took her love and skills to Niger. During her three-year term, She helped give vaccinations, treated illnesses and injuries, and performed prenatal care. Kids followed her wherever she went.
“And I hold babies as I walk, if the mothers are out there. And they call me ‘mama.’ Not only here in Tara; in the villages, I’m mama,” she said.
While Swiger busily treated the health needs of hundreds of Africans, an evangelist or church planter addressed the spiritual needs of the villagers. Demonstrating care for the people opened their hearts wider to Jesus. Swiger, whose trips out to these bush clinics were paid for by the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering, knows people her age can do this, too.
“And I wish more older people wouldn’t think they were too old to get up and do anything for the Lord because as we get older and if we’re retired, we have more time. And we should use that time for God’s work. …”
